Goal

To intrinsically motivate students by decorating the room with blacklights and glowsticks so they are more likely to engage in challenging activities. The goal is for students to enjoy learning by showing increased performance, persistence, and creativity.

Category

School supplies - Markers, paints, paper, crayons, clay, pencils, sharpies, modeling dough, etc.

What will be done with my students

The classroom will be turned into a Backlight Disco where students work with highlighters to solve math problems. The highlighters GLOW under the blacklight creating a new and fun classroom environment.

Benefits to my students

Motivation drives student behavior and performance. When students are motivated they will be more positive and energetic in the classroom and toward their learning. Students are going to be more likely to take initiative in their learning and persist through difficult material, mistakes, or tasks.

Budget Narrative

The items listed will create a Blacklight Disco classroom for all of my 4 different groups of students.
