The goal of this project, is to increase student engagement and their understanding of chemistry concepts.
Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.
Students will use the purchased materials to complete lab activities.
One notable study is titled "Relationship among Laboratory Instruction" Attitude Toward Science, Achievement in science knowledge", by Freedman (1997). Freedman's research examine the impact of hands-on laboratory instruction on high school students' attitudes toward science and their achievement in science knowledge. The study found that students who participated in hands-on lab activities demonstrated a significantly more positive attitude toward science and achieved higher scores on science assessments compared to students who did not participate in such activities.
It has been shown that completing hands-on science labs includes such benefits as: critical thinking and problem-solving skills development, increased collaboration and motivation, and a deeper application of the concepts students have learned. Inquiry-base learning, such as these labs, promotes curiosity and a deeper understanding of the scientific method.
Moreover, these experiments in particular have a real-world relevance to situations students encounter on a daily basis.
The items purchased will be perishable chemicals/materials used to complete the lab activities.
