Only $1,000.00 Needed
My class goal is to raise 1,000 dollars for my special needs students to teach them the life skill of cooking.
School-Wide, Grade-Level, Or Class Events/Programs - Parent Nights, Honor Roll Celebrations, EOY Events, etc.
I will use the money to fund the food necessary for my independent life skills class. Throughout the school year my class will be learning how to be more independent in the kitchen before they graduate. I will use the money to purchase food items for the students to cook on a skillet or traditional household stove/oven. Essentially we need money to purchase groceries for the students to learn how to cook. Students will need to learn how to safely cook raw meat to the appropriate temperature using a thermometer. Students are going to be responsible for cleaning the kitchen prior to cooking and after cooking.
Students will benefit by gaining confidence in themselves to be more independent. Students will be more independent after learning how to to cook for themselves and others. Students will feel a sense of accomplishment when they enjoy eating the food they cooked or watching others enjoy eating their food. The students will have a skill they could possible use when the graduate to work in a kitchen as a career or to use at home. Students will learn how to handle meat and produce to prevent cross contamination. Students will also learn how to maintain a clean kitchen. Students will learn responsibility and how to manage a safe kitchen.
Money will only be used to purchase groceries for the students to cook with.
