Goal

To help my students learn about how friction affects motion through an engaging hands-on experiment.

Category

Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.

What will be done with my students

Students will use these friction kits to predict how the different surfaces of the ramps will affect the motion of the cars. Then, they will test out each surface while keeping data on how far the car goes on each ramp. They will also test how the height of the ramp affects the motion of the car as well. Then they will be able to make a conclusion on friction and motion.

Benefits to my students

This will benefit my students because they will be able to gain more understanding on how friction affects the motion of objects. They will also be practicing our nature of science learning goals including, setting up a controlled experiment, recording accurate data, comparing that data with other groups, and making a conclusion. This practice is essential for them as they move through their academic science career into Middle School and hopefully participate in the middle school science fairs.

Budget Narrative

6 of these kits. This will allow for groups of 4 kids to work together with one kit.
