My goal is to increase exposure to STEM projects, especially coding, and foster engagement regarding environmental stewardship.
Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.
St. Elizabeth Seton 7th grade students participate in the Everglades Foundation Champions in Action Program. This program fosters research and environmental action at an early age. The Climate Action kits would be a great asset to instruction surrounding this specific program. It would also allow for more engagement in 6th grade when we talk about natural resources. These kits could be used each year with multiple grade levels of students. The microbits also have the ability to transition to other projects.
These kits would offer real-world problem solving opportunities for students. They would increase 21st century skills (creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, technology literacy, etc.). This would bring coding into a physical project instead of just computer practice. It would also allow for enrichment opportunities for advanced students.
All 118 students in our middle school could benefit from these. The STEM teacher could also use the microbits in her classroom.
This is the link for the website for these items. https://forwardedu.com/
These kits are easy to use with a supported learning platform. Replacement parts can be purchased so these kits are capable of being maintained for years to come.
