The goal of this grant is for all students, staff, faculty, guests and community members at Sabal Palm Elementary School (SPE) to feel a sense of belonging in an environment that is supportive to learning, success, leadership and achievement. The goal of this grant is to increase culture through leadership initiatives on campus. At SPE we believe that everyone has the potential to be a leader. Through this project, we will be able to support the nurturing of student learning, foster a culture of trust in learning and support academic success. Through something as simple as a mural on a wall, or a fun (interactive) walkway on the ground, this grant will allow us a continued opportunity to empower students and staff with the skills to be and feel successful. In addition, the opportunity to add a sensory/interactive walkway to our campus also “supports provides an engaging space and activity for children to work on gross motor body movement, develop coordination skills, strengthen the core body, increase focus and attention, develop peer relationships, and build friendships” (The Sensory Path). Who wouldn’t want to come to school?!
