Budget Narrative

Collier County Adult Education (CCAE) within Collier County Public Schools is seeking a $210 Classroom grant to provide our adult English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students access to real literature.

Reading books plays an indispensable role in the development of students. It fosters critical thinking, enhances vocabulary, and cultivates a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives. Through literature, students not only acquire knowledge but also develop empathy, allowing them to connect with others' experiences and viewpoints.

We are requesting a class set of 30 of Lois Lowry's Newbery Medal winning classic, The Giver.

The Giver has become one of the most influential novels of our time.
The act of reading is not merely an academic exercise; it is a profound journey that shapes character, intellect, and emotional resilience. By encouraging a love for reading, we empower students to become lifelong learners and thoughtful contributors to society.
