Goal
As a new kindergarten teacher my goal is to have ready-to-use literacy centers that have all the tools to teach Common Core State Standards for language arts.
My goal is to provide literacy centers that facilitate problem solving while students explore, invent, and discover promoting student collaboration, facilitating motivation and providing targeted practice for student learning.
What will be done with my students
Students will use the hands-on materials to…
-play reading and language games, to get focused practice to develop skills with identifying rhyming sounds, reading high-frequency sight-words, syllables, initial sounds, vowel sounds, synonyms & antonyms, and sequencing familiar nursery rhymes.
-practice identifying key details and finding the main idea while reading informational text.
-boost phonemic awareness, phonics, sight-words to teach the reading foundational skills.
-learn the conventions of Standard English, from commas & pronouns to spelling.
-write everything from narratives & opinion pieces to informative texts.
-build and write CVC words, explore nonfiction text features, respond to high-interest writing prompts, and much more!
Benefits to my students
Students will benefit in reading, writing, and language foundational skills to master key kindergarten standards.
