Goal
The goal of Battle of the Books is to get all students excited about reading, by exposing them to a variety of genres at their reading levels.
What will be done with my students
Classroom students will be placed into small groups. Each group will be responsible to divide the eight books up amongst themselves, read the books and then demonstrate their knowledge gained from the books in a trivia game show against the other groups in their class.
Benefits to my students
Students will have to work cooperatively to make sure every book gets read at least once and that the person who read the book is prepared to be quizzed on it. This will motivate students to read, as they are reading for a purpose. Students will also gain exposure from many different genres. Through the trivia game students will get to learn about other books, many of which are part of a series, and be motivated to read more books!
Budget Narrative
I have requested 5 of each book that will used in Battle of the Books, therefore, each group will have a copy available to read.
