Goal
The goal of this project is to pique student interest in reading through the use of Scholastic Weekly Readers. Research shows that students who view reading as a pleasurable activity become better readers.
What will be done with my students
Students will receive individual Weekly Readers each week. In addition to having multiple opportunities to read the Weekly Readers during class, students will also be able to take their Readers home and share them with their families. In class, the Weekly Readers will be used to enhance the curriculum and serve as a basis for many exciting activities and projects.
Benefits to my students
Students will learn that reading is not only a means to learning but also a pleasurable pastime. Students will enjoy the enrichment that the Weekly Readers will bring to the classroom. Families will have opportunities to share and develop a love for reading at home.
Budget Narrative
The budget covers the cost of 22 subscriptions for SCHOLASTIC NEWS Grade 1� My Weekly Readers� with Science Spin at $5.94 per subscription and Shipping and Handling of $13.07.
