Goal

To engage students by exciting demonstrations that capture their interest and lead them to develop their curiosity in Physics (and other STEM fields).
To involve students in their own learning by doing more laboratory activities, exploring and experimenting and understanding concepts by "doing" not just watching.

What will be done with my students

Students will be observing, discussing, and reporting on at least one teacher demonstration each month. These will engage, excite, and inspire students to learn more about science.
Students will participate, investigate and learn about science how it helps explain the world around us by completing a minimum of two laboratory activities each month.

Benefits to my students

Students will be:
** excited to come to class
** actively engaged in discovery and inquiry
** investigating "what happens" before researching "why it happens" to build a base of foundational knowledge
** individually responsible, and cooperatively responsible for their own learning
**learning about "real world" science and STEM connections

Budget Narrative

Most chemicals have to be purchased from a school supply company as there is restricted access to the general public and must be purchased by a high school teacher and delivered to a school location. Chemicals purchased should last a minimum of three years. Physics equipment is specific to individual demonstrations or lab investigations and while may only be used once or twice per year, can continue to be used indefinitely.
Other consumable materials can be purchased locally, and more cost effectively.

Items

# Item Cost
1 Chemicals $140.00
2 Other consumable materials $30.00
3 Physics equipment $200.00
  Total: $370.00
