Goal

Students will learn more about the outside world and other schools around the world while developing problem solving skills.
 

 

What will be done with my students

The maps will be used during our Mystery Skype sessions. We Skype into other classrooms around the world and try to determine their location using only yes or no questions, such as, "Are you in North America?"

Afterwards the Google cardboard will be used to visit the area virtually and experience the landmarks, landscape, etc.
We can also use the Google cardboard to experience concepts we are learning about in science, such as outer space or under the sea. 

 

Benefits to my students

The activity promotes problem solving and working together in a group to solve the mystery location. Each class is trying to guess where the other one is before the other class figures out the location of their own school. Mystery Skype also exposes the children to other customs and cultures around the world.
