Goal
The goal is to teach my students with disabilities about how the brain works and the characteristics of a learner with a growth mindset.
What will be done with my students
The books will be used as read alouds to introduce and enhance lessons about growth mindset. The games will be utilized for students to practice using the qualities and self-talk of a growth mindset learner in order to work through tasks that are challenging.
Benefits to my students
My students with disabilities will learn that a person's abilities and intelligence can be developed through practice, hard work, dedication and motivation. Through practice and instruction my students will learn that children with a growth mindset learn from their mistakes, are motivated to succeed, put forth more effort, take challenges head on, seek feedback and take risks. By utilizing the items I am requesting, it is my hope that my students will be able to identify the qualities within themselves that will set them up for success and apply the growth mindset qualities to their learning.
