Investor
Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Ray Sutton McGehee Foundation - $200.17
Goal
To help migrant students/ESE special needs students that may not have an English speaking/reading parent to help at home, to have a way to practice reading books by playing a recorded voice (either their voice or mine) while they follow along in the book, at home.
What will be done with my students
Students will practice reading in a small group and learn to use the digital recorder. They will read their weekly guided reading book with me and produce their best recording. They will take the recorder home at night to play the story back as they follow along in the book, or just to use as needed if they can't remember a word or two.
Benefits to my students
Learning a new language and learning to read takes lots of repetition and practice. A hand held recorder will allow students to take their recorded reading of any book home with them to practice over and over. The recorders will help with comprehension, sight word recognition, fluency, independence and confidence!
