Goal

One of the key foundational skills in math is fluency with numbers, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. The students at Highlands need additional support with mastery of this. The use of this game will increase student fluency through a fun educational game.  

 

What will be done with my students

Students will be given opportunities during workshops, or small group time to play the game prime climb. This game, requires students to use any of the four operations to move through the game board. The rigor of this game can be adjusted as needed for each students ability. The game will support the students mastery of fluency. Students are engaged in a game, while learning is taking place. Number fluency is a key component to all other standards taught, so improving students’ knowledge will help increase their math ability.  

 

Benefits to my students

Basic fluency with adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing will provide students with a solid foundation to be successful in more complex math. Once they understand the basic computation the game provides opportunities for more complex equations to be used. Receiving 8 games will provide multiple classrooms with games. The game is designed for 1-4 players. I want to reach the most students across the school. 

 

Budget Narrative

Currently on Amazon the game is listed at 35 dollars a game. In order to purchase 8 games, with a 6% sales tax the total is 296.80.
