Goal
100% of students in my 2nd grade class will increase their vocabulary, oral reading fluency, and comprehension by the end of 2nd grade.
What will be done with my students
The students will learn how to increase their independent reading skills through the use of leveled readers. The students will learn to work collaboratively in literature circles while participating in book clubs.
Benefits to my students
Literature circles are fun and engaging ways to incorporate reluctant and excited readers to dig deeper and discover all that is within a text. Students develop skills such as, but not limited to predicting, summarizing, comparing and contrasting, time management, vocabulary, speaking and listening, and cooperation. Students will gain critical thinking skills as they participate in collaborative conversations. Students will learn how to become accountable for their actions and efforts. Ultimately students take control of their learning.

This list of books is from Scholastic Book Clubs and are leveled based on my students reading levels. There are generally sets of 6 so that each student in each group has a book to hold independently.
