Goal
My goal is to inspire the students while I have them in technology class. A simple read aloud will not just help them with literacy, but will provoke a conversation, and begin to have them ask questions and become curious. Then we can take the curiosity and use it in class and to apply our STEAM challenges.
What will be done with my students
Student will be read to at the start of class, this will have a literacy benefit for them to hear how books should be read and show them how with the correct intonations a book can inspire a young mind. Once the fire has been sparked in the child , my goal would be to fuel it with activities and conversations to keep it burning. Allowing them to explore through research , problem solving tasks, and collaborative work.
Benefits to my students
My students will have the opportunity to have books read aloud read to them or by them to their classmates (depending on age). The books I have chosen are geared towards STEAM, naturally posing questions and sparking curiosity about how things work, why things happen, and even about potential professions in the STEAM field.
