Goal

Students will experience the places we study in World History. The history will come to life!
I teach ancient civilizations. Students need the opportunity to "visit" these areas so they can better understand them. As we "travel" around the ancient world, Nearpod provides online activities and virtual tours. Students get to step into the ancient ruins. This engages them and leads to better understanding! 

 

What will be done with my students

Using computers, cell phones, laptops, and iPads, students will virtually travel to ancient sites throughout the world. They will utilize various activities through an online source: polls, drawing, quizzes, videos, matching games, collaborating, researching, analyzing, writing, true active learning!

I (the teacher) am able to customize Nearpods ideas to better meet the needs of my students. 

 

Benefits to my students

With this source, I (the teacher) am able to customize the activities. I can tweak them to meet the needs of my students. Self-pacing will allow my students to delve into the ancient world. They will be able to learn and then show what they know.

I have used this source in the past. My students enjoyed having the chance to tour areas that they cannot easily visit. The various strategies (polls, quizzes, drawing, matching, collaborating, etc.) allow for total engagement!
These activities are all online---no paper needed. The system/activities support our state standards and my students will gain a better understanding of the ancient civilizations. Through interaction online and in small groups, they will be engaged and more interested in the learning! 

 

Budget Narrative

The Nearpod Gold Membership will allow me to customize and individualize the units for my students. This is paramount to using the system---I will tweak existing "packages" to use with my students. They love it!
The membership is for one year and gives me total access to the offerings from Nearpod.
