Goal

Every student has valuable ideas to share with their classmate’s however many students are afraid to share their thoughts or speak so quietly they cannot be heard by everyone. My goal is to provide each student with a clear voice that will be heard by all members of their class.

What will be done with my students

My students will be presented with new information about technology applications that integrate core content especially in the area of science. Students will be provided with opportunities to discuss this new information and formulate ideas about what they are learning, during these discussions the Q-ball can be rolled or gently tossed to the student speaker. In addition to amplifying the student’s voice, I expect an increase in student engagement since everyone will want to talk into the Q- ball and roll/toss the Q-ball to the next speaker.

Benefits to my students

In today’s world, it is important for students to develop the skill of speaking in “large” group and collaborative group situations, Q-Ball will provide students with a tool for voice amplification. Q-ball will provide students with a way for the shyest of students to share their thoughts; it will make speaking in class “fun”. Eventually students will begin to process their thoughts into a clear verbal description. It will also curtail students providing the same answers since they could not hear their classmates. I believe the “ball” action will keep students engaged since everyone will want to speak into it and share their knowledge and ideas.

Budget Narrative

As I teach technology to every student at Manatee Elementary school in grades, kindergarten through fifth grade the cost per student is 36 cents per student. This product is rechargeable so after the initial expense it will be utilized for years in the future.
