Goal

The goal of the Man-Up Program at PRMS is to help mentor and educate teenage boys in becoming gentlemen in their everyday life so that they will become upstanding young men. 

 

What will be done with my students

Have weekly meetings during lunch to discuss any issues they are having at school with teachers and/or students and how they can resolve them like gentlemen and come to resolution.

Take them for an initial student outing in which they buy a dress shirt and neck tie for the weekly meetings.

Teach them how to properly tie a necktie and dress for different occasions (formal dinner, weddings, interviews, school presentations, etc.)

Have them go through a training session on Table Etiquette and manners.

Bring in an ironing board and clothing and teach them how to iron clothes

Teach them how to prepare for a job interview and how to prepare for a career

Teach them how to communicate effectively (Eye contact, tone of voice, verbal & non-verbal communication, etc.)

Work with them on moving from a "Fixed Mindset" to a "Growth Mindset."

Teach them the importance of volunteer work and service projects within the community

Have an end of the year banquet at a nice restaurant with them to celebrate their accomplishments in the club and give them an opportunity to put their table etiquette to the test.

Present them with certificates at our school awards ceremony at the end of the year. 

 

Benefits to my students

They will learn:

- How to properly dress themselves in business attire and in formal situations.
- How to resolve conflict
- Table Etiquette and proper manners
- How to earn respect from their peers, teachers, and parents
- How to be a gentleman that others look up to
- How to be leaders in their community
- How to prepare for a job interview and how to interview with success
- What it means to be involved in community service and helping others. 

 

Budget Narrative

As mentioned in what I will be doing with my students, I will use the budget for the following:

After we recruit the 20 young gentlemen from Pine Ridge for our Club and have them sign contracts that they are going to remain in the club throughout the year, My Dean or Principal and I will take them to Marshall's to pick out a button up shirt and a necktie. We will then take them out to lunch at Sweet Tomatoes and talk to them about what the year will look like and the changes that we hope to see in them. At the end of the year we will have a banquet to celebrate a successful year in the program with them at a formal or semi-formal restaurant. I will then order certificates and place them in frames which we will give to the young men at our end of the year awards ceremony.
