Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Ann Cohn - $442.80
Goal
Students will each create a painting chosen from a variety of Florida endangered species using watercolors to bring to life the exquisite beauty and textures of the species they select. They will then write an artist statement as to which environmental benefit the species provides that inspired them to create their painting.
What will be done with my students
Students will research Florida endangered species using books and technology to understand the important role they play in our environment and to observe and appreciate the unique aesthetic qualities of these creatures.
Students will use observational drawing techniques to replicate an inspirational image.
Finally, they will use watercolor paints and techniques to replicate the colors, value, patterns and textures that make the animal unique.
Benefits to my students
Students will benefit from the purposeful connection to an environmental cause while experimenting with the process of watercolor techniques.
Students will definitely benefit from a user friendly watercolor product such as the Faber-Castell connector pallets. They allow the artist to select each individual oversized color pan specific to the colors of their painting and connect them to create a custom pallet. Our current watercolor pallets are quite small, worn and depleted.
