Goal
To establish a classroom reading library that provides high interest, low reading level materials for students with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, Hearing Impairments and Physical Disabilities.
What will be done with my students
Differentiated reading for students with disabilities.
Provide age respectful reading materials.
Provide high interest materials.
Allows students to expand independent living skills, social personal skills and self advocacy skills.
Provide similar same age reading area for students with disabilities.
Establish a comfortable area for students to relax while reading a selection or looking a reading material from the reading corner, much like they would do in their home environment.
Benefits to my students
Students will foster a love of reading and/or being read to by an adult or peer.
Students will be able to generalize social personal skills in the reading area.
Students will be able to make an independent choice from a selection of reading materials.
