Goal
Help me instill a love for learning and reading by providing my Kindergarteners with the hands-on resources they need to become successful readers!
What will be done with my students
These literacy center kits will provide my young students the opportunity to build their literacy skills in a fun and engaging way. They will be using these literacy center kits during guided reading. Students will be learning and practicing skills such as letter recognition, beginning sounds, word building, rhyming sounds, sight- word recognition, as well as building and writing simple sentences.
Benefits to my students
My students are a wonderful and diverse group of children. More than fifty percent of my students are learning English as a second language. They are also experiencing school for the first time in a new country. These literacy center kits will make their learning experience fun and engaging, allowing them the opportunity to practice their reading skills using hands-on materials instead of just worksheets.
