Goal

My goal is to replace the most popular books in the library that were not returned to school because of the pandemic.

What will be done with my students

Shadowlawn students are an extremely diverse group. We are a Title one school in a tight community. Many of my students go home to houses where the parents are working and where they have to be the adults and take care of their younger brothers and sisters. Many are below grade level and struggle to read. Many of their parents also struggle to read. There are many barriers that these children have to face on a daily basis. But the one thing we do know that these children want to be in school and they love coming to the library to check out the newest books that are out there. They are excited to read.
I often get many of my books funded because we hold 2 book fairs a year. With the pandemic I do not know if that will happen. Unfortunately my budget is very limited and will not replace the 195 library books (worth $2269.76) that were not returned to the school. I am trying to replace the most popular fiction books that are missing. The books that I know the children love to read.

Benefits to my students

My students will want to read if we have the most current and popular books available for them to check out. When students are able to check out books that they want to read then they will improve their fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
