Goal
My goal is for my students to read as many of the Sunshine State Young Reader Award (SSYRA) books as possible.
What will be done with my students
Each year the state of Florida releases the titles of 15 books that have earned the SSYRA award. Our school challenges our students to read as many of the books as possible. I would like to have 2 sets of the books in our classroom for our students to read. The books are longer chapter books so if we have 2 sets there is always a book available for a student to read.
Benefits to my students
My students reading comprehension and fluency will greatly improve while they read through the SSYRA books. Students will challenge themselves as they read the more difficult books and discuss them with their classmates.
