Goal

To increase science and reading literacy and encourage reading in general across the subject of science through a classroom library filled with science books (both fiction and nonfiction).

What will be done with my students

With this grant, I will be able to set up a classroom library that is filled with science books for my students. I will be able to buy a variety of books at different levels that will encourage reading in science for all students. I would like to incorporate reading activities with my students based on the books found in my classroom library.

Benefits to my students

There are many benefits to having a classroom library. In general, having a collection of engaging and fun books encourage recreational reading and then can increase a love for reading and increase knowledge! For my ELL students, having a fascinating library for them to choose is a great way for them to engage with the language as well as the subject matters we learn in class. Increasing reading in the classroom will benefit the students in all subject areas as increased reading will impact their literacy and comprehension in all subjects.

Budget Narrative

The budget is for 2 classroom book shelves and a variety of science books to be featured in the classroom.
