Goal
To further integrate STEM concepts/materials in two self-contained prek classrooms.
What will be done with my students
Students will have access to STEM materials throughout the academic year, and will use them in conjunction with district curriculum.
Benefits to my students
It is never too early to start STEM-based approaches to learning! Several of the students are on the spectrum, and are motivated by hands-on applications of lessons that they can manipulate.
Describe the Students
These are two self-contained classrooms with ESE students & general education students; varying exceptionalities.
Budget Narrative
The 'most-wanted' item(s) on the list are the Big Builders construction set as well as the LED light & bright panel, and the Ramps & Balls exploration set. These are the concepts that are most difficult for young (prek) students to grasp/comprehend, as they learn through doing. What better way for them to learn and explore than through life-sized lessons/materials? Both classrooms would share the materials provided through this grant.
