Goal
The Math Vertical team at Valrico Elementary would like to participate in a book study, Becoming the Math Teacher You wish You'd Had, by Tracy Johnston Zager, as part of professional development.
What will be done with my students
Teachers will participate in a book study and collegial discussion and planning on how to imbed effective math practices into our math instruction on a daily basis to improve student success.
Benefits to my students
Student achievement will increase as a result of teachers, grades
K-5, working collaboratively together to implement best practices in the mathematics classroom. Classroom routines will include strategies to stimulate students to connect ideas. Rich tasks will be implemented to encourage students to wonder, generalize, and conjecture, and persevere with problem solving.
