Goal
The goal of this grant is to give our 5th grade students the opportunity to harvest and maintain a Florida indigenous plant garden with an emphasis on bee attracting plants for future Earth Pollinators.. This project will also teach students the Florida NGSS Standards of plant and animal life cycle as well as energy transfer from the sun to producers. It will encourage students to utilize STEM and applied analytical abilities In addition and no less important, gardening positively impacts mood and psychological wellbeing.
What will be done with my students
Students will research Florida plants to utilize and then use hands-on, mathematical skills for plotting our square footage and soil volume for the garden. Students will then plant the garden using their knowledge of plant needs and life cycle as well as the importance of pollination to the Earth.
Benefits to my students
Students will learn through engaged and hands-on activity as well as research skills. In addition, this project will improve overall mood and well-being.

The price of this will include a garden tool set, garden shovel, topsoil, border and plants/seeds.
