Goal

For students to use coding to practice math concepts developing problem solvers.  

 

What will be done with my students

This project will benefit 554 students currently in my 3rd grade class. Students will benefit in that coding mice are an easy way for them to learn the basics of coding. Coding helps develop: Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Analytical Thinking, Sequential Thought Process, Directional Concepts, Visual Tracking and 2-D to 3-D Correspondence.
Once students learn how to code the mice to get him to turn in different directions it will be used for math. Students will have to code the mice to follow a pattern that skip counts by a number or follow a pattern that solved different math equations.  

 

Benefits to my students

Students will be have an experience in STEM that will excite them to learn more about it. They will develop the beginning skills needed for coding. Then they will use these skills to strengthen math concepts. The goal is 30-60 points on Iready Math growth in May.
