Goal

My goal is for the students to have the weekly Scholastic News that they can read their own copy as they are social distancing in the classroom.  

 

What will be done with my students

Each student will receive a hard copy of the weekly reader as well as have online access where they can then interact with the text as well as explore extension activities that go along with the topic. Scholastic News ties in social studies and science but students will also be given opportunities to respond to the text through writing. 

 

Benefits to my students

Scholastic Weekly Readers fits into the first grade standards and gives the students the chance to read and learn about current topics. It goes across all curricular areas and has the ability to meet students at their current reading level. Each student will get their own copy, in which they can highlight and annotate key and interesting information. It is also important with the current classroom situations of social distancing. 

 

Budget Narrative

This includes a weekly reader and a digital copy for each student.
