Goal

The goal of this project is to introduce Kindergarten and First graders to the world of programming and computer science.

What will be done with my students

Students will learn how to program and code robots. The robots can be programmed to do various motions like step, slide and even dance. Students will create various programs and share those programs with the class. This directly correlates to the Florida Computer Science Standards which my curriculum focuses on as a Technology teacher. This project will be implemented this year and in following years as well.

Benefits to my students

Students will learn the definition of programming and also understand how this relates to coding which they will learn more about in their later Elementary years. The use of hands on materials and high engagement techniques will create learning that is long lasting and authentic. The Kindergarten and First Grade students, which this project is aimed for, will benefit greatly and their minds sparked with the wide world of programming, coding and STEM.
