Goal

To build a library of books and materials to support our current Core Values curriculum. Seacrest utilizes six Core Values: kindness, curiosity, perseverance, respect, integrity, and responsibility. The materials listed in this grant mirror these values and are intended to help teachers support children through both positive growth and dealing with challenges. By creating this library of resources, teachers will have consistent language and age-appropriate materials to use with students. This will have a unifying effect on our school community and help foster positive student social-emotional growth. 

 

What will be done with my students

These materials will be used to support our weekly Core Values class curriculum. During this time, teachers in the Lower School will use the materials purchased to teach lessons on important social-emotional skills.
Additionally, by having these resources, when a student needs support there will be material available to them to help mitigate how they are feeling in a consistent, positive, and age-appropriate manner.  

 

Benefits to my students

Having consistent language and materials to address the social-emotional needs of students is crucial. This grant will serve to create a school culture with an emphasis on positive social-emotional learning experiences, as well as give students and teachers a consistent and unified language. This will allow students to continue to grow and mature into their best selves as people and learners. When issues do arise, students and teachers will be able to quickly and successfully address a variety of topics, as they are covered within the material. This will allow children to make mistakes, continue to grow, and express their concerns without fear of judgement, while also giving teachers a positive and age-appropriate resource to help support students. 

 

Budget Narrative

The budget for this grant includes teacher's manuals, a starter pack of mini plushies for each classroom, and box sets of books for each grade level.
