Goal
Promote reading amongst striving readers and increase reading Lexile levels.
What will be done with my students
55% of Golden Gate Middle School students do not read proficiently. We need to motivate the students to want to read, students love to be recognized and rewarded with fun school supplies they can use in their classes.
The Literacy Coach will check reports weekly to determine the top student reading performers.
Every week, the coach will announce the student winner in front of their classmates. The winner will receive a gift bag with fun school supplies.
Benefits to my students
When students know that someone cares about how they perform and they get acknowledged for it, they are more willing to participate. The more they participate, the greater their gains will be.
Budget Narrative
We will reward students with school supplies because teachers appreciate it when their students have supplies over things that may distract them in class. Students appreciate fun supplies because their parents can't always afford colorful, glittery, and exciting supplies, therefore they are forced to use the base colors that the teachers give them.
