Goal
The primary goal is to educate my students of the importance and life cycles of various plants in our ecosystem as well as sustainability. I also hope to show the students the benefits of vertical gardening including the utilization of smaller spaces, urban cooling and the overall art of agriculture gardening.
What will be done with my students
The students will perform project-based, hands-on work to plan, plant and grow a locally sourced garden on school campus utilizing the innovative concept of vertical gardening. Students will each select an herb/vegetable/fruit to cultivate. We hope to invite our sponsors to visit our garden once we have it clearly established.
Benefits to my students
My students will work to deepen their understanding the various earth science learning goals in their curriculum including life cycle, plant germination and growth, ecosystem interaction and weather (water) . They will also be empowered to plan, grow and cultivate a local-sourced , sustainable garden.
Budget Narrative
The price of this grant includes the infrastructure of our vertical garden, potting soil and seeds.
