Goal
My goal is to increase the vocabulary and language skills of my students with useful resources, so that they can be proficient in reading and writing.
What will be done with my students
Dover Elementary is a title 1 school with a high migrant and English Language Learners population. TBE students have gaps in language, reading, and writing that need to be filled so that they can make gains and be proficient readers and writers. With the use of resources like a personal word journal, students can have the vocabulary that they need on hand for writing and class discussions. Students can refer to their personal journals when writing, so the words' correct spelling is used and reinforced. This will expand their word recognition and vocabulary.
Benefits to my students
This project will benefit all of the 5th grade students (95 students) and 2 ELA teachers.
We will use I ready diagnostic as wrll as district assesments to track their reading and writing progress.
