Goal

My goal is to increase understanding of the 8th grade science content through interactive, engaging assignments that are relevant and hold students to high expectations. 

 

What will be done with my students

I will be using Nearpod to create and assign individualized lessons that are aligned to our standards but also based on students' needs. Students will go through videos, interactive questions and writing prompts, and virtual field trips to build on previously taught content. As part of the learning process and to build understanding, students will be given an assignment in Nearpod as one of multiple stations that will need to be completed. 

 

Benefits to my students

The great thing about this program is that it can be differentiated according to a student's needs which means that students that are struggling with the content, as well as students who need more enrichment, will be able to benefit from it. Also, many of my students are from lower socioeconomic homes and do not have a lot of background knowledge or the ability to build knowledge through in-person experiences. Nearpod's virtual fieldtrips will give them these experiences. I believe this will be vital to increasing science proficiency throughout the grade level. I will also have the ability to go back and review students' work and collect data points that will assist me with instructional decisions. 

 

Budget Narrative

This level subscription will allow me to have enough accounts for 90 students per session.
