Goal

My goal for this grant is to renew the Platinum membership which includes; 5 GB storage, 90 students max per lesson and Nearpod standard features and accountability.
This was so graciously funded last year by Champions for Learning and I hope to continue to use this engaging application again this year with my students.

 

 

What will be done with my students

My students will travel back in time and explore the ancient wonders of the world with this engaging platform called Nearpod. Nearpod is an interactive classroom tool to engage students by adding exciting activities to my lessons like polls, collaboration boards, and game-based quizzes. We visited virtually the Great Wall of China, an underground tomb of Pharaoh Ramses, the ruins of Machu Picchu, just to name a few. Students can interact and submit responses though any mobile device or laptop Line: This is a great tool with a vast content library, and the teacher- or student-paced learning can unlock the potential of 1-to-1 environments..  

 

Benefits to my students

The benefits of a really engaging lesson is magical. Students are transported through time to the ancient world which is not an easy thing to do with traditional teaching tools. Nearpod is interactive so students participate by visiting ancient sites virtually and can demonstrate their understanding of the lesson in a variety of ways. Students respond through online collaborative boards, poling questions, drag and drop matching activities, videos with embedded questions, memory tests and open-ended questions. There is so much to Nearpod it's hard to explain having a limited amount of words. I have been teaching social studies for 30 years and this is hands-down one of the best platforms I have ever used.
