Goal

To give each 3rd grade student at Lake Park Elementary School a recorder so they can learn to play a wind instrument of their own.

What will be done with my students

Several weeks will be spent teaching the students the correct posture, hand position and blowing technique. Following this they will learn the basics of reading music and actually perform some music on the recorder at their 3rd grade music program. After the students have a good idea about producing a sound we will use the books for developing their music reading skills.

Benefits to my students

Playing a musical instrument is always a good exercise for the brain. Besides the obvious musical gains the students receive from playing an instrument, it also teaches them the skill of self discipline and working together with other students in an educational setting. At the conclusion of our recorder study, the students will get to take the books and recorders home.

Budget Narrative

These are medium quality plastic recorders with an outstanding student book.
