Goal

Students will create personalized artwork that will be proudly displayed in public spaces on the school’s campus in uniformed metal frames. Students will learn the importance of creating art for public viewing and to celebrate student success. These displays will demonstrate how art connects us to each other, the community, and the world!

What will be done with my students

The students will work collaboratively to brainstorm ideas for a unified message from which they create works of art. The students will be asked to incorporate “Leader in Me” theme to spread Social, Emotional Learning, and (SEL) messages. Once the students decide a theme for the collaborative art show. The students will have a variety of art mediums to choose from in creating personal works of art to be framed and permanently displayed in public school spaces. The students will assist the campus plant manager with the installation of the art. Students will experience the power of their contributions of art on their community.

Benefits to my students

I am an Art Educator and trust me when I say “there is nothing more delightful than seeing students’ self-esteem grow when they see their artwork displayed for the community to view.” We plan on utilizing metal picture frame to display 6, 7 and 8th grade levels student artwork in public spaces of the school’s campus. Oakridge Middle School family will be able to enjoy the student art as a permanent art installation and enjoy the art for many years of come.
