Goal
My goal is to have a class set of 25 books of The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo for the 2023-2024 school year.
What will be done with my students
The hope would be to start our novel study on this book by October 2023. We will use our knowledge of all our ELA standards to break down and study specific parts of the book. A novel study creates great opportunity for students to work on their context clues, identifying character traits, analyzing the plot, and understanding authors claim and purpose. All of these skills have been taught since they have been in third grade, and doing a novel study applies it to real life!
Benefits to my students
I believe that all of my students will benefit from this project. Novel studies are great for all level of kids and a great way to expand their comprehension of text and their fluency in reading.
