Goal
Our 8th grade students will review tested benchmarks from Earth/Space, Life and Physical science for the State Science Assessment.
What will be done with my students
Students will work in small groups playing Jenga. The Jenga sets have multi-colored blocks (purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red). When a student wants to choose a certain color block (let's say green), they will choose a green task card with a review question on it. If they get the question right, they are able to then attempt to move their block and earn a point. The player with the most points at the end and does not knock down the tower wins!
Benefits to my students
This will allow students to engage in a fun game with review, work as a team, and apply some of their knowledge of physics to not knock down the tower.
Budget Narrative
I am requesting 6 Jenga sets (1 for each group). the task cards for the review content and colorful paper to match the Jenga sets as well as laminating sheets to protect them for multi-year use. Can be shared among all 3 8th grade science teachers for review.
