Goal

This is a fun and exciting way to help our students with their math skills. Students will use the game to review and master various math concepts. It is a fun and hands on way to review multiple math standards.  

 

What will be done with my students

Connect Four is a game that many have played. To use in the classroom, the game pieces will be labeled with different fractions. Students will play the game and try to get four fractions in a row that make a whole. As they progress through the standard, the pieces will be changed and the object will be to create 4 in a row of equivalent fractions. There are many different ways to use this game to review different math standards. It can also be used for addition and multiplication facts. I know they will love it and be excited to play! 

 

Benefits to my students

I am always looking for ways to make learning fun. When students are engaged in their learning, amazing things can happen. Adding, comparing and ordering fractions are difficult concepts for third graders. If I can make it fun and engaging, the students will do so much better.  

 

Budget Narrative

This grant will provide all the students a chance to learn and play. Only 2 people can play at a time. The dot stickers will be used to change the game pieces to match the math standard being reviewed.
