Goal
Poetry and figurative language are difficult concepts for third graders. My goal is to make it easier for my students to understand and to also make it enjoyable to learn.
What will be done with my students
Third graders are required to understand and identify different types poems, rhythm, rhyme as well as various types of figurative language (metaphor, simile, hyperbole). These standards can be very challenging. The more students are exposed to poetry, the better they will understand it and all the different examples of figurative language. These books will be used all year with at least 2 classes of third graders. They will be read aloud and used as instructional tools.
Benefits to my students
These books will greatly enhance our instruction as well as student comprehension. They will be used for years!
Budget Narrative
All books will be used to help teach poetry and figurative language.
