Goal

As the school counselor I am hoping to create calm down toolboxes for each of my teachers to have in their classrooms for student use. It will contain a number of resources for the students to choose from when needed.  

 

What will be done with my students

Last year I realized that many of our classrooms have a space for students to go to when they need a break but often, they don't have the supplies they need, and the students don't know what to do when they get there. I had one class in particular that abused the use of the space, and it caused a lot of interruptions to the learning in the room and especially for that student. This year I plan to go to each class and teach the students how to use the space and teach them the calming techniques they can use when they get there.  

 

Benefits to my students

I would love to see the space used correctly so that it helps students learn tools and tips for remaining calm and how to reset when needed. A space that is the same in all the rooms allows for a universal language to be created that the kids recognize and can use no matter how old they are or whose class they are in.

These items are for each teacher's room at my campus. We have just under 80 teachers. One each. Impacting 850ish students.
