Goal
Our journalism program saved for two years to buy a mirrorless camera. It has been GREAT, but to maximize it's effectiveness we would love a zoom lens.
What will be done with my students
Students will be able to use a zoom lens to take much tighter pictures at school events. The photos will be used to promote our school in social media as well as in our award-winning yearbook.
Benefits to my students
All of the students in all levels of journalism at Freedom will benefit from this lens because of how much more versatile the camera/lens combo will be. We will be able to highlight our arts programs, music programs as well as athletic programs. In journalism, students will be able to use the lens to learn about aperture, shutter speed, ISO and many other technical aspects of photography. The camera takes up to 11 framers per second, so we will be able to teach fun, new, hands on lessons, like popping water balloons when teaching about shutter speed, without putting the camera in harms way.
