Goal
I would like to raise money to buy flags to start a Color Guard/ Winter Guard Program at Osceola Middle School. We have an Enrichment period every day at the beginning of school and at the moment I have about 20 kids who want to learn Color Guard but we do not have any flags! It is quite a bit of money initially, but we can use these flags for years once we have them!
What will be done with my students
We will be learning Flag and Dance basics at school every week. I have many students who want to learn the basics of Color Guard so they can participate in it in High School. We are going to prioritize movement in school and will regularly go outside and practice with our flags! The goal is to have a short 1-2 minute routine that we learn and will be able to perform at an end of the school pep rally!
Benefits to my students
I know the benefit of Color Guard personally. I started at my Middle School and did it all throughout college. I know that this is a sport that can take kids a long way and its something they can keep up with for a long time. Color Guard is really a quintessential team sport and teaches kids how to work together for the greater good.
All of my kids are really excited about this and I hope we are able to make it happen for them and for groups of kids years to come!
Describe the Students
I have a mixed group in my Enrichment period. I have 6th through 8th grade as well as boys and girls.
Budget Narrative
I have 18 students so this is what I would need. Each flag needs a pole, silk, and a small and large weight.
