Goal
Students will use the light table to learn letters, numbers, counting, patterning, and for sensory play.
What will be done with my students
Students will use the light table immediately during daily center time. The function is to explore math and reading concepts through exciting manipulatives such as glowing letters and numbers. The sensory bundle is to include tactile sensations for special needs learners. These manipulatives help calm students who need more sensations than just in their fingers. They also help focus special needs learners on concepts such as finding a letter in the sensory bin.
Benefits to my students
Students will be able to build, play, find, and explore using a new and exciting feature to the classroom. There are countless ways to incorporate the light table into learning. The educational aspects of math and literacy skills such as letter/number identification, patterns, sorting, sequencing, and sensory processing are just a few ways it can be used.
Describe the Students
Our class is blended of ESE students and general education students. All students can benefit from this. With the littlest learners, a majority of our learning is done though play. This tool gives us the ability to learn through playing every day.
Budget Narrative
Lakeshore Learning bundled the light table and sensory manipulatives together. The manipulative center is the letters, numbers, shapes and counting manipulatives to teach with during centers that is an accessory to the light table.
