Goal
To immerse students’ kindergarten through third grade who are educated in a special education self-contained classroom, in communication opportunities outside of the school building. My goal is to assist my students with their communication skills through a learning opportunity with The Naples Players.
What will be done with my students
My students will attend inclusive theater classes with The Naples Players. During these sessions students will learn communication skills, teamwork, patience and sensory awareness through theater games.
Benefits to my students
Communication is one of the foundations of society. The ability to communicate will set a strong foundation for my students as they advance through school and eventually into the community as adults. My students are currently learning to verbally communicate with others. The sessions with The Naples Players will immerse my students in opportunities that allow them to gain new verbal language skills and practice the skills they have in a fun environment.
Budget Narrative
Each session with The Naples Players will be 1 hour. The sessions will be held within walking distance of school, so the only cost will be for the session. Each class with The Naples Players is $200. I hope to be able to bring my students four times this school year for a total of $800.
