Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Hillsborough Education Foundation - $650.00
Goal
To minimize barriers so that students can participate in school activities.
What will be done with my students
My name is Maria Wyatt and I am a Migrant Advocate for the school district. One of the barriers that Migrant and other families often face is that there are documents that the schools require, (for example field trip permission forms, physicals, after school activities, sports) that must be notarized. Often, there are no notaries at the school. Families don't know where to go. Many don't have bank accounts so they can't get it done there. This is a problem. I would like to apply for an Education Foundation grant to cover the expense of notary training for 5 Migrant personnel. That would allow us to support our community and schools by removing a significant barrier for our families.
Benefits to my students
There will be more access for parents to have documents notarized so that students will be able to get physicals, go on field trips and participate in after school activities. The number of students able to participate will increase.
Budget Narrative
The grant request covers the training and materials for five Migrant staff to become certified Notaries. This allows us to provide services to students and families in multiple schools within the District.
